Happy Family Tip Bits @ Gorgeous magazine

Hey champs! I seem to be starting off the new year with quite a bang. First my son started school at the beginning of January, and today my hubby got promoted - he's now head of his department! Hurray honey!

I'm also quite happily writing away for the ever fabulous Venusbuzz.com and editing content for eVisaAsia.com and 1.com.my. On top of that, I got a writing gig for a unique Singapore-based women's magazine... I'll announce it when my article gets published! I'm so excited!

Meanwhile, enjoy my second article for Gorgeous magazine, in which I interviewed two parenting experts:

Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion wins the prestigious Dartmouth Medal

I received an email from Kathryn Earle, Managing Director at Berg Publishers today, which read:

Dear Colleagues,

I am simply thrilled to tell you that the Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion has won the prestigious Dartmouth Medal. This is the most important award for Major Reference and the result is down to your hard work and dedication.

We also won the ALA Outstanding Ref Source for both. I don’t think life gets any better than this! I will toast you all this evening. This really is a very big deal.

We will send out a press release but I do not have emails to hand for everyone who made this possible, so please forward this news on as appropriate – in particular to any significant members of the editorial team.

 Congratulations all around!

Such wonderful news! I'm thrilled to be part of this achievement! You can check out my essay for the encyclopedia here, and the news release here.

Amir's first day of school

Today was a very busy day for the family as it was Amir's first day at sekolah agama (religious school) and standard one. His sekolah agama is in the morning, while his primary school starts in the afternoon.

This is his sekolah agama uniform. We later discovered that the Baju Melayu had to be tucked into the samping. What can I say, my mum and I are from Johor and we are so used to leaving the baju untucked!
