Package from Penang E-Aquarium

A few weeks ago, I ordered some trumpet snails, nano marimo balls and duck weed from a blog shop called Penang E-aquarium. Jonathan replied to my emails and was very helpful with all my inquiries. Check out the package I received:

Isn't it a cute package? Not much longer than a pen.

My stuff came in these two small containers.

See my little trumpet snail? I ordered two, but they sent me three :)

It's been a few weeks now, the trumpet snails and marimo balls are doing just fine. My apple snails ate all the duckweed though, which is ok... at least they got a snack! The trumpet snails are quite shy, they like to hide in the gravel. Occasionally, at night, they'll come out to explore a little bit. I just love the trumpet snails, they are adorable! Thanks Penang E-Aquarium!

Hi, may I know is their marimo quality satisfying? I am planning to buy some from them through postage, but I am afraid they will wilt on the way. Thanks

Hi Liz, thanks for dropping by. The nano marimo are very small, as the name suggests. They are not as fluffy as the larger ones I've seen in shops. I have had them for a few weeks and so far so good. My snails don't eat them. Since they are so small, they don't really add much in terms of looks, even in a small tank like mine. I am thinking of getting a larger marimo ball. I think you may be happier with a larger marimo ball too :)

Ohh, in that case i will buy both nano and giant marimo from them since they have start importing in giant marimo. I have heard from the others too that all nano marimo is not fluffy at all compare to the giant marimo, I will tell you about my giant marimo after I bought from them. Thanks!

Hi again Adline, I have received my Giant Moss Ball few days Ago, I buy two from them. The giant marimo is wonderful! It is soft and furry, the hair is short and feel a bit spiky, overall much better than the nano marimo, the quality is good too, it comes without brown spot on them , planned to buy some more from them as gifts to my niece and nephew!

Hi Ong! Thanks for dropping by! I paid Rm15 for two nano marimos. Marimo as mobile earphone plug? Never heard of that before! What does that look like? How does it work? :P Do check out Penang E Aquarium's prices at: http://eaquarium.blogspot.com/p/our-product.html

RM15 for 2? That was really cheap! Here's an example of how it looked like, and the price are already on discount but still very very expensive.

I see u have a passion for aquatic plants, I know there's one company selling aquatic plants in a bottle. Think u will be interested in it. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.140892719321821.34944.136437823100644&type=3

Hi again Ong, yeah I think it's a fair price. I think in other places we end up paying for the bottle not the marimo. Thanks for the aquatic plant link. Will check it out

I once try to buy marimo from the “marimo club“ on facebook, I tested them but asking the price of one nano marimo, they say it is RM20 each, but then when I ask them about bulk purchase for 100 nano marimo (without bottle) and above, guess what? Each is only RM6!

So I definitely agree with adline that we pay more for the bottle. Also, I think Penang E aquarium can sell them cheaply because they won"t have any renting cost, or high overhead cost. All those cost actually add up in the marimo price. I would prefer to buy a Marimo and then buy the decoration afterwards. Even now I continue to buy marimo from Penang E aquarium and put them into a miniature glass with colout sand, they make great gift!

Ohh, and another reason I like Penang E aquarium very much is that they are very honest. Othey company will advertise their marimo as "from Japan!" and then sell the marimo to you in high price. But I don"t think those Marimo are really from Japan because as far as I know, only few individuals and the Hokkaido Limited company sell marimo from Japan, marimo are actually protected there, so collecting them is illegal.

In the opposite, when other company sell Marimo and advertise them as "from Japan", Penang E aquarium is honest and stated that their marimo is directly from Singapore. I guess there is a huge marimo farm in Singapore where they breed japan marimo locally and most company actually import Marimo from there.

Ya Liz, Penang E Aquarium is still my best bet for marimo. I bought their giant marimo recently and it's sooo cute!!! must buy more heheheh...
